Independent business valuation services for regional Australia from a CA Business Valuation Specialist

Valuación is the business valuation practice of SED Advisory, a regional advisory firm. Dr Tony Irish holds a Chartered Accountant qualification, a PhD and CA Business Valuation Specialist accreditation. He applies them to the regional and rural businesses and professional-services firms most metropolitan valuers do not routinely price.

Why this matters

Regional

Regional markets are thin, comparable transactions are scarce, and distance, freight and seasonality shape both operating economics and buyer pools. A defensible valuation reflects those conditions rather than defaulting to metropolitan benchmarks.

Independent

Valuación provides valuation services only. There is no audit, tax, advisory or transaction relationship pulling the number in a particular direction, and no commercial obligation to a lender, broker or platform.

Credible

Valuations are prepared by a CA Business Valuation Specialist under APES 225, drawing on more than two decades of business valuation and economic analysis across regional Australia. The work is documented to the standard a court, the ATO or a counterparty will expect.

Three ways to engage

Scoped to the decision in front of you, rather than sold as a package.

Valuation Review

A limited-scope review giving an indicative valuation: the fast, lower-cost starting point.

Valuation Service

A wider or purpose-restricted analysis where the value of the work is the reasoning and evidence rather than a single final figure. Useful for strategic planning, family-succession conversations and pre-transaction thinking where a formal valuation isn't yet warranted.

Valuation Engagement

The full, final valuation, formally prepared for M&A, financing, disputes or compliance.

Who we work with

Regional and rural businesses

Urban valuation assumptions routinely misprice regional and rural businesses. Twenty-plus years based in regional Australia means Tony already knows the drivers specific to these markets.

Professional-services firms

Accounting, legal, engineering, medical and allied-health, and advisory practices, where the value sits in people and goodwill rather than plant and stock. A valuation needs to reflect that.

Why now

The CGT reform is now law. From 1 July 2027 the 50% discount gives way to cost-base indexation and a 30% minimum tax, and every asset held on that date is deemed sold and reacquired, with the split between old and new gain measured primarily by market value on the day. A 30% minimum tax on discretionary trust distributions follows from 1 July 2028. For any owner weighing a sale, a succession or a trust restructure, a defensible valuation dated to 1 July 2027 is the most useful document to have on file. Talk to Tony about the timing that suits your business.
